Aren't these items gorgeous? The majority of them are American made, but there are some from Canada, the U.K., Germany, and Australia as well, so my international readers can also find some gifts made close to home!
There is something so special and valuable about purchasing an item from a small creative business. Each of these items is the result of hard work, creative expression, dreams and goals being set and fought for. I am trying to gear more of my purchases away from generic mass-produced goods and toward handcrafted and small-batch items. There is definitely a difference in price, and it can often be hard to justify this difference for everyday items. That's why I think gifts are the easiest place to start when it comes to buying small and local.
Of course, mother's day is about so much more than buying a gift. I hope each of you are able to get some quality time with the important women in your life. I live on the other side of the world from my family, which makes celebrating holidays like these pretty difficult. When I'm home, often we gather all the fam together and go out to lunch at my mom's favorite little restaurant.
What are your plans to celebrate? If you're a mom, what are the ways you feel most appreciated on Mother's Day? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks to all mothers for everything you do.
xx
